A few weeks have passed looks like! We are almost starting our 3rd week here in Coyhaique! We still aren't settled in our place...but we are hoping our patience will pay off! I'm always needing to work on my patience....and now is a great opportunity! In the meantime we have been enjoying ourselves with a variety of friends and getting to know the congregation better. For the past week we have been living with the family Reynaud. Juan has known them since he was a kid. They are a loving, spiritual family and a great support to the congregation. The parents met in Russia when they were in their 20's and studying medicine. They got married and learned the truth after. They have been living in Chile ever since! They have 2 kids..Pavel & Michelle (my English students). I think the kids are done with me living with them...I make them practice their English everyday!
For some reason they have days off work for anything they can find a reason for! Halloween & the Day of the Dead. Within the last decade they started celebrating these holidays and they take the entire day off! The Witnesses are bold enough to go preaching in the cementaries! Yikes! We stayed home. But... last Monday we were able to go preaching out in the "campo" country....a place with 3 huge lakes. It was nice...had a big picnic with the congregation in the middle of the day. The territory does not get worked regularly...so we were able to have some good conversations and we can hopefully return within the next 6 months.
The Gringos we have been finding here are so adventurous! Its neat to hear their stories... one guy from Holland came all the way on his motorbike from Colombia. Another couple from Germany traveled from Canada all the way to Chile..by car...its been a 2 year trip! They are going to Argentina next. Wow!! I have yet to find someone travel the distance by foot. I'm sure someone is out there though!
I'm having a problem remembering names and faces of people...I have already preached to 2 sisters from our congregation while out in service!! Ooops. Juan offended a sister at last weeks meeting. She is about 78 years old...such a sweet sister. Last Wednesday we sang the song about "Gray-headedness" and Juan told her that the song reminded him of her. She looked at him with all seriousness and asked "And why is that?! Because of my hair?!" She smiled after thankfully. Her reply caught us completely off guard!
Today we made a mexican food feast! Complete with Margaritas & Flan. Only thing missing...Mariachi! This next weekend we have the 2-Circuit assembly...so we are looking forward to that. It will be held in a movie theater downtown. The District Convention is coming up in January...so another thing to look forward to!
Well...thats all we have to report for now! Hope everyone is doing well! We have had so many sunny days here...but today...it just started raining! Aw man!
